Libya has been the target of US aggression since the Libyan Revolution of 1969 led byColonel Muammar al-Gaddafi.

There have been many attempts by the US to subvert and overthrow Gaddafi involving CIA funded anti-Gaddafi terrorist groups such as Al Burkan (the volcano). The decades following the revolution were punctuated by two significant events which were used as pretexts for overt attacks on Libya, the murder of WPC Yvonne Fletcher during a demonstration by pro and anti-Gaddafi demonstrators outside the Libyan Embassy on 17th April 1984 and the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over the Scottish town of Lockerbie on the evening of 21st December 1988.

Both these events have been preserved as solid grounds for continued animosity between the Libya and the west and yet the official versions of both events have been proven beyond any doubt to have been fabrications of lies and concealment which turned the spotlight instead on the nefarious machinations of western intelligence agencies, particularly the CIA.

Two groundbreaking documentaries were produced which have been consistently ignored by those in government.

The Maltese Double Cross
The first film from 1994 disputed the conclusion reached by the official investigation into the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, instead advancing the theory that the bomb was introduced onto the aircraft by an unwitting drug mule, Khaled Jafaar, in what the filmmaker claims is a CIA-protected suitcase. Abolhassan Bani-Sadr, former prime minister of Iran, discusses the idea that Iran took revenge for the shootdown by the USS Vincennes of Iran Air Flight 655 in July 1988.

Murder in St James Square
The second demonstrated that the official version of WPC Yvonne Fletcher's murder in St James Square was completely fallacious and designed to incriminate Libya. The programme shows how the fatal bullet was not from the Sterling sub-machine gun which was fired at anti-Gaddafi demonstrators but another weapon fired from a much higher position. Eleven rapid shots were heard on a video recording yet the police recovered twelve bullets from the scene.

The programme showed how an anti-Gaddafi terrorist cell called Al Burkan (the volcano) with members who had infiltrated the Libyan embassy was backed by the CIA and used to incite international condemnation of Libya and actually sacrifice their own supporters in doing so. It traces the weapon used in the murder back to Berlin and exposes the whole sordid involvement of the UK and US intelligence services in an oil greedy vendetta against a regime which would not acquiesce to US foreign policy, i.e. neo-colonialism powered by the military industrial complex.
