This short clip from the film 'Animals Are Beautiful People' metaphorically illustrates quite concisely how mankind (personified by the baboon) is a victim of its own stupidity and greed.

The baboon is trapped by its unwillingness to let go of the melon seeds in pretty much the same way that mankind is unwilling to let go of its dependence on consumerism.
