The concept of freedom
has been central to the so-called 'liberation' of Iraq and future imperial
adventures in the name of the United States
of America. But as can be seen, the general public's understanding of
what constitutes freedom is at best poor - not least because their concept
is relative to the state of liberty into which they were born and were
raised. In the extreme, somebody who was born and grew up in prison
would have no first hand concept of what freedom was.
