Ronald Reagan at the UN -
21st September 1987
On
21st September 1987, Ronald Reagan addressed the United Nations and
in an speech which was not unlike the 'New Pearl Harbor' assertion
in the Project for the New American Century document, 'Rebuilding America's
Defenses' cited that an Alien threat might be useful to unite the nations
of the world.
He stated:
'In our obsessions
of antagonisms of the moment we often forget how much unites all
the members of humanity.
Perhaps
we need some outside universal threat to make us recognise this common
bound.
I occasionally
think how quickly our differences, world wide, would vanish if we
were facing an alien threat from outside this world...'
